The Next Dimension's Gemini Saint seems to suffer a split personality disorder. The Gemini Saint is first introduced as Abel, a traitor to Athena and an ally of the corrupted Pope. In the sequence, Abel vanishes and Cain appears claiming to be the real Gemini Saint, and expressing his loyalty to Athena. He also says his twin brother, Abel, is only an evil shadow. Later on, both Cain and Abel switch places in a game of illusions, each one claiming to be the real Gemini Saint and accusing the brother to be a mere shadow. [Spoiler] Later, it is confirmed that Cain is the original personality, while Abel is not only his evil personality counterpart, but also some kind of evil spirit inhabiting Cain's body due to biological anomaly. Upon meeting the Gemini Gold Saint in the House of Gemini, Ophiuchus Odysseus explained the true nature of Abel. He revealed that humans are born with approximately 150 billion brain cells, but during development, up to one-tenth of these excess cells undergo apoptosis (programmed cellular death). Odysseus believed that, by some miracle, the cells destined for apoptosis in the future Gemini Gold Saint's body survived. This anomaly ultimately led to the emergence of two minds within one body. One mind was Cain, the primary consciousness, while the other was Abel, a personality born from the surplus cells. He also mentioned that human body's autoimmune system naturally eliminates foreign or aberrant elements to maintain optimal health. As Odysseus put it, Abel was always fated to be purged from the main body. However, driven by fear and survival instinct, Abel developed a strong, distinct identity. He seemed to embody traits opposite to Cain's and ended up defining himself as evil in contrast to Cain's righteousness. After explaining Abel's nature to Cain, Odysseus performed and completed the process of apoptosis with his powers, allowing Abel to fade away peacefully, even if the process resulted in nothing other than Abel technically ceasing to exist. With Abel gone, Cain's body and mind became unified and solely his own. [/Spoiler]
