Ctarnidd of the Abyss is one of the Seven Colossi and the primary antagonist of the Shangri-La Frontier series' third arc. Though intended by SLF's developers to be the first Colossus defeated, it was the second to be challenged by Sunraku after Rust and Mold tipped him off about its Unique Scenario EX. [Spoiler] Ctarnidd is an octopus-type sea monster that appears in the oceans, and it was mentioned by NPCs who voyaged near its spawn point to players who never saw it. Initially considered a simple octopus, this eldritch horror has since evolved into a colossus that alters the fundamental mechanics of Shangri-La Frontier itself. [/Spoiler] [Spoiler] According to SLF's lore, Ctarnidd was originally an ordinary octopus that Alice Frontier subjected to experiments as part of the Second Plan. The process granted the octopus reality-warping abilities but also destroyed its body, turning it into a living, sentient magic spell. Long ago in the game's timeline, the island city of Ruluia was attacked by an entity known only as the Blue. To save his people, the King summoned Ctarnidd and a pact was struck: the Colossus would be given ownership of Ruluia in return for stopping the Blue. Ctarnidd used its inversion powers to drag the entire metropolis into the sea, sealing away the Blue.
